How the Israelis Standards Mark System Operates
Organizational Structure and Operational Frameworks:
The Standards Mark system is composed of several frameworks as established by the Standards Law, regulations, and directives (Standards Order – Determination of Standards Marks, 1992; Standards Order – Prohibition on the Manufacture of Commodities, 1981; Standards Order – Exemption from Compliance with Official Standard Requirements – Temporary Provision, 2019).
Standards Mark Directorate – A public body responsible for setting the policy for the operation of the Standards Mark system.
Professional Committees – These are committees of experts in their respective fields, responsible for reviewing and assessing the results of tests and examinations conducted on products and production processes, and ensuring their compliance with the relevant standard requirements. The committee submits recommendations to the Permits Committee regarding the issuance of permits.
Permits Committee – The decision-making body responsible for granting or revoking permits to mark products with the Standards Mark, and determining the extent of supervision over the manufacturer.
Institute Laboratories – Perform various tests on the different products.
Process Examiners and Quality Auditors – Examine the production processes and the quality management system at the manufacturer’s facility.
Standards Mark Operations Directorate – An organizational unit operating on behalf of the Director General, responsible for implementing the policies of the Standards Mark Directorate.
