Vehicles and Spare Parts
The Vehicles and Spare Parts Department specializes in vehicles and their systems, and various technological fields affiliated with transportation and transportation safety. The department laboratory is certified by the Ministry of Transport and Road Safety.
The department personnel are skilled and have extensive experience in accident investigation, failure investigation, transportation research and surveys, testing vehicles following accidents, testing structural change to all types of vehicles, testing and calibrating licensing programs, testing vehicle stability, comparative testing of non-original vehicle spare parts, and safe vehicle spare parts.
Sectors/products tested
Vehicles and Spare Parts
- Stability and maneuverability tests in compliance with Israeli standards and Ministry of Transport requirements; for example, cement mixers and pumps, open and closed semitrailers, pursuant to Ministry of Transport specifications.
- Installation of fire extinguishing systems on buses in compliance with the specifications of Israeli standards and transportation regulations. Test the installation and compliance with the tested engine compartment pursuant to Israeli Standard 6278, Part 3.
- Supervision of production at the manufacturing plants – supervision at manufacturing sites, which require it in order to obtain a production license from the Ministry of Transport, pursuant to Ministry of Transport specifications.
- Supervision of tire retreading machines – testing and supervision of tire retreading machines for commercial vehicles (trucks and buses), pursuant to Israeli Standard SI 1120, Part 2.
- Supervision of manufacturers and installers of license plates – collection and testing of license plates in compliance with the dimensions and markings specifications before installation, pursuant to Israeli Standard SI 5327.
