Laser satety

The Computer Laboratory tests laser products and laser diodes for various applications, such as:

• Optical communications interfaces
• Medical devices and laboratory equipment
• Job hygiene services and job safety from laser radiation (details below)

A laser product intended for the American market must be registered by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and a product for the European market must undergo testing pursuant to the appropriate CE Mark standards. The Computer Laboratory can register the manufacturer with the FDA.

The laboratory performs tests pursuant to common applicable standards:

• International Electrotechnical Commission IEC 60825-2, IEC 60825-1
• American Code of Federal Regulations CFR 21 1040.10, CFR 21 1040.11
• Japanese Industrial Standards Committee JISC 6802

The laboratory provides advice and guidance on all matter related to lasers and the legal requirements in Israel and other countries at every stage of the product's life cycle.
