Green Building

Green building is a multidisciplinary approach to various aspects of design, building, and development. It has a critical effect on residents and workers in buildings, as well as on contractors, the environment, society, and the economy. For the sake of our future, the Standards Institution of Israel strongly encourages green building in strict compliance with the standards.

Green – sustainable - building is environmentally friendly building that is healthy for the building's residents and users and encourages the saving of energy, power, and water, the use of natural materials and resources, and waste recycling.

Ecological systems can be protected through green design and green architecture that takes environmental conditions into account and consumes resources in a sophisticated way. Green building can cut energy consumption by 30% compared with regular building!

The objective of ecological building is to create a residential environment that avoids harming perishable natural resources and the environment as much as possible. This is achievable by using water and energy-saving machinery, minimizing earthworks, the use of thermal insulation to improve the home's thermal efficiency, and use of the space to save energy.

Green building also refers to different aspects of design and development, including the handling of surface water, choice of the project site, building density, development of the site's non-built up space, use of green materials, building site management, cooperation of the residents in the process, use of natural light to improve the building's quality for its residents, landscape, ventilation of interior spaces, installation of existing knowhow and technologies, and the sophisticated use of resources.

The importance of green building is expressed in the triangulation of economics (financial savings in monthly expenses), society, and the environment, through the reduction in emissions of pollutants and radiation.

There is no question that raising the awareness of developers about high-density buildings and public institutions about green building and buildings provides a high standard of living and protects the health of their users. Numerous studies indicate that a green home reduces various chronic illnesses and boosts the productivity of its residents. An Israeli standard has been written to institutionalize and define green building .

Advantages of green building

  • 30% savings in energy consumption
  • Up to 75% savings in fresh water consumption
  • Waste recycling during building and the building's lifespan
  • Use of Green Mark materials and a quality work environment for a quality building interior

The importance of green building

The objective of ecological building is to reduce the negative impact of buildings on the environment through the use of know-how and technologies to create a sustainable environment that meets the needs of the current generation without jeopardizing the abilities of future generations. The implementation of green know-how and technologies is a continuous learning process based on the principles of architectural and climate design alongside the development of innovative systems.
