Thermal Conductivity of Materials

Thermal conductivity is the process whereby energy is transferred by direct contact between different materials or within the material itself, due to temperature differences.

The Standards Institution of Israel, as a testing body, performs tests pursuant to Israeli Standard SI 5450.

The unit operates for the sake of energy efficiency with the objective of reducing the use of electricity.

The facility conforms to the specifications of the following standards: DIN EN 12667, ASTM C 177, and ISO 8302.

Our customers include those seeking to present energy efficiency for the Green Label, and insulation materials tests for the construction and insulation industry.

Sectors/products tested:

  • Thermal conductivity tests of materials – thermal conductivity tests are performed pursuant to the specifications of Israeli Standard SI 5450.
    - The facility can test samples with dimension of 30 x 30 cm with a thickness of 15-30 mm
    - Validation of insulation properties of building materials, such as thermal mortar. The tests are performed as part of the
      Standards mark supervision.
    - Establishing thermal conductivity for different insulation materials as part of product development.
