SII Director General Ziva Patir unanimously re-elected ISO Vice President

SII Director General Ziva Patir was unanimously re-elected Vice President of the International Organization for Standardization and Chair of its Technical Management Board during the association’s General Assembly held in September in Singapore. The Technical Management Board advises the ISO Council on the organization, coordination, strategic planning, and programming of ISO’s technical work, including the appointment of registration authorities and maintenance agencies for the implementation of International Standards.

Patir was first elected to the position two years ago, the most senior position to be held by an Israeli since ISO’s establishment in 1947. She is also the first woman to hold the position.

The Standards Institution of Israel represents Israel at ISO and at the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), a parallel body dealing with electrical and electronic standards.

Patir continues as a member of World Standards Cooperation (WSC), comprising the presidents and vice presidents of ISO, IEC and ITU-T, the Telecommunication Standardization Sector of the International Telecommunication Union. WSC acts to strengthen and advance the voluntary consensus-based international standards system of the three groups.
